OAKS SERVICES

JANUARY UPDATES & a letter from pastor:

Reflecting on 2022 reminds me that it was a rough year, and we lost some amazing people. We saw an enormous number of financial issues, and we saw a lot more people in need. We saw a lot of people affected by COVID, and we also had lots of building problems, like leaky roofs and plumbing issues. We even had our main boiler die. This was the boiler that heated the church and the Village, so this has been a costly repair. We had to get 4 new furnaces just to heat the church, and we still need to get a new furnace for the Village (where we house our food pantry, clothes closet and offices). Now, with all of that being said it may seem like we should feel defeated or overwhelmed by all these problems, but can I tell you we are not! Literally as I was writing these words for our newsletter someone came to the shelter and brought a check to fix the heat. Yes, you read that right. As I was writing about the problem, a solution was already on the way. God made a way out of no way. So, let us keep the faith and trust God, even in the bad times. Let us remember that it is darkest right before dawn. I don’t know about you, but I can see the light! Brothers and sisters, forget the past and look forward to what lies ahead, let’s press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us (Phil 3:13 NLT). It’s a new day and a New Year and God is about to do a new thing! 2023 will be a year of blessings and Miracles on 2nd Street.
